Flower for Yuri
Dedicated To

Yuri was born in San Pedro, California on May 19, 1921. She shared the same birthday with Ho Chi Minh and El Hajj Malik Shabazz (Malcom X). She was at Malcolm's side when he was assassinated at the Audubon ballroom in 1963. She was a Japanese-American activist who lived in the projects in Harlem for many years. She fought for and with African-Americans, Native Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans and Whites for social justice, civil rights, and prisoner and women's rights. She is both a symbol and a fine example of the cross-cultural solidarity that will ultimately save the United States and the world from destruction by greed, racism, and ignorance.
